The Firstborn

Well, here I am. Back to the blogosphere after years of absence. Livejournal drama from back in high school has left me with a slightly bitter aftertaste in terms of the whole "blogging" thing, but I've grown up a lot since then. I'm more mature, more stable, and more in touch with myself. I think I'm ready to give this a try again.

College... wow. I never thought I'd actually be here. When I was young, college always felt like this sort of far-off fantasy land. I remember when my oldest brother first went off to college... it never seemed real, you know what I mean? And even now, as I sit in my dorm room reflecting on it, it still doesn't seem real. I don't quite know why. Maybe because it isn't making me want to kill myself? Maybe because I actually feel like I can handle it? Maybe because it feels just like high school? I have no idea. Whatever the case, I'm glad I made it this far. So far, so good...

President Barack Obama! We finally did it... after 8 years of Neo-Con Republicans destroying America, we're finally getting ourselves back on track. I have no doubt that Obama can bring us back to where we were economically when Clinton was president (one of the greatest American presidents in recent history, in my opinion), put together some basic civil rights laws (abortion, gay marriage, etc), ensure affordable and expansive healthcare for every American, and explore and advance technologies leading to renewable energy and in doing so, end this perpetual involvement that we seem to have in the Middle East because of our dependance on their oil. I'm proud to be an American again.
